Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) Lead
North West Hockey is fully committed to the principles of equality of opportunity in hockey. We
recognise the enhanced creativity, performance and legitimacy of an organisation that reflects
the community it serves. As such, we are committed to improve the knowledge and expertise of
North West Hockey and welcome all applications, particularly those who have an understanding
of individuals from under-represented ethnic backgrounds, the LGBTQ+ community and those
with disabilities.
Purpose
To Lead and co-ordinate North West Hockey in developing supporting programmes delivered
locally to support Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and encourage people to take part through
clubs, including Flyerz Hockey, Schools Outreach, Walking Hockey and much more.
To support North West Hockey committee’s in their work through providing additional expertise
on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
To represent North West Hockey at England Hockey 8 Area Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Group
Key Tasks of the Role
Key skill sets are below:
● Knowledge, experience and a track record of leadership in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
and widening participation.
● Strong communication skills, and the ability to present own ideas clearly and concisely.
● People-management sensitivities, capable of influencing and managing relations with and
inspiring a diverse range of stakeholders.
● The ability to work as part of a team, to build constructive relationships and understand the
power of partnerships.
● A passion for increasing equality, diversity and inclusivity and supporting people of all
ages, background and abilities to participate in hockey.
● The willingness to act as an “ambassador” within the community, both for hockey in general
and the Area.
● An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunity and diversity.
Location
• Management meetings, which are currently held mainly online (Teams), also England
Hockey 8 Area Equality, Diversity and Inclusion meetings, and others meetings as required
including supporting the Board, the majority of meetings are online.
Remuneration
• Position is unremunerated with reasonable expenses covered.
