About us

North West Hockey Limited is responsible for delivering all aspects of hockey across the North West Area - from Masters to Juniors and everything in between.  It is one of the 8 Areas, formed as part of England Hockey’s structure changes in 2022, responsible for making hockey happen across the country.

Vice Chair of the Board of North West Hockey Ltd and this appointment is as a Director.

Chair of our Adult League and Competitions Committee and this role is a member of our management committee

Vice Chair

Role Purpose: To support the Chair in providing the vision, leadership and business planning to help develop all aspects of the Area, from playing and development to running the administration and finance. The role leads on the co-ordination and development of the strategy and the overall direction and development of the Area.

If you’re passionate about the development of our sport and are looking for a new challenge this is an ideal opportunity to get involved in the running of the hockey in the North West and make a difference. The role provides the opportunity to you’re your current skills, knowledge and experience in areas including strategy, communications and engagement, leadership and delivery to take North West Hockey forward.

The role will ideally suit someone who has the ability to see the ‘big picture’ whilst understanding the operational detail and implications detail, and has a strong people and inter-personal skills to work with a wide range of people with the North West and across the other 7 Areas and England Hockey.

Adult League and Competition Chair

Role Purpose: To provide vision, leadership and strategic planning in all aspects of the Area Adult Leagues & Competitions in line with England Hockey guidelines. To oversee the Area Adult League & Competition committee ensuring delivery and monitoring of a robust adult league and competition programme, with a high level of customer satisfaction. The role also sits on NW Management Committee shaping the wider work of North West Hockey.

If you’re passionate about hockey and are a leader with strong chairing and facilitation skills, have thorough knowledge of competitions, clear thinker and decision maker with a diplomatic and collaborative manner, you could help shape the delivery and future adult league and competitions within the Area. The role requires attention to detail and prioritisation skills to ensure the adult leagues continue to be run in effective, fair and efficient manners. The role gives the opportunity to work with the other 7 Areas and England Hockey to continue to review and develop adult league and competition hockey across the country

The next step will be a review of the expressions of interest by the North West Area Nominations and Remuneration Committee and relevant follow-up. Appointments will be made by the North West Hockey Board as these vacancies were not filled at the recent AGM, and will be put forward for election at the 2025 AGM.

North West is one of the 8 Areas that are part of England Hockey. Formed in July 2021, we are responsible for organising, developing and running a wide range of hockey, in association with the schools, colleges and clubs in our area:

North West Adult leagues for men and women with over 91 Clubs along with other ways to play, tournaments and indoor

North West Junior competitions, including school and indoor competitions

North West Masters hockey, including representative teams and informal master opportunities to play and train

North West Officiating, including development of young umpires, club umpires and appointments

Overall Area Discipline, Safeguarding and Governance.
