SHARE

Officiating in the North West Area is led by the North West Area Officiating Committee (AOC).

Details of the AOC, including names and the link to email addresses, can be found here.

The North West AOC is responsible for:

  • The development of officials (umpires and technical officials) in the North West Area.
  • Making neutral appointments to EH Area league matches and North West Competitions by the England Hockey Game Management System (GMS).
  • Ensuring that Young Umpires are given the necessary opportunities to develop their officiating in a safe, controlled and managed environment.
  • To support the recruitment, and development of Club umpires, working with the Club Umpire Development Lead, Cluster Leads and Umpire Club Developers to deliver workshops and members evenings and to facilitate the coaching/observation of umpires.
  • To deliver Technical Official education and opportunities for Technical Officials development and to recommend Technical Official appointments to EH Area league matches and North West Competitions by the England Hockey Game Management System (GMS).

Clubs are expected to appoint a Club Umpire Liaison officer as part of their management structure, who will be responsible for helping to link together all of the club and Area umpires associated with a club.

Clubs should also appoint a Club Umpire Developer (who has completed the England Hockey Club Umpire Developer training course – here to help with the local development of umpiring and umpires.

Please ensure that our Club Umpire Development Lead/Cluster Leads has contact details for both of these important posts in your club.
